Kentro Webinar: Poverty Trends 2024 – Finding Our Place in Systemic Change
Dec 12 | 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm EST
Many Christians and churches are deeply engaged in addressing poverty in our congregations and communities. This workshop will develop our shared understanding of the systemic causes and impacts of poverty in Canada, as well as explore ways we can exercise our unique gifts and spheres of influence to bring about needed change.
To do this, we will be exploring the latest Poverty Trends report by Citizens for Public Justice, released annually with the most recent available data on poverty in Canada.
This webinar will be facilitated by Natalie Appleyard , the Socio-Economic Policy Analyst for Citizens for Public Justice (CPJ), an organization of members “inspired by faith to act for justice.” CPJ seeks to equip and mobilize communities and individuals across the country to advocate for just and sustainable policies in the areas of poverty, refugee and migrant rights, and climate justice. Natalie uses her background in education to help convene and share knowledge with a variety of individuals and organizations. She is a member of the Steering Committees for Campaign 2000 and the Canadian Poverty Institute, a board member of the Canadian Health Coalition, a co-lead of the We Go Together Network, and represents CPJ on the Canadian Council of Churches’ Commission on Justice and Peace. Natalie lives and grew up in unceded and unsurrendered Algonquin Anishinabeg territory, near the Kichi Sibi river, colonially known as the Ottawa River.
